Need Help....

What a week!! I Just got back from a fabulous trip to Chicago (the good part) and we also just found out our nanny is moving and we can't find anyone who can come close to replacing her... sigh. As you can see the dogs are very upset.
What I really need help with is that it is my mom's birthday this week and for the life of me I am drawing a blank on a dessert to make. I need something that I can make the day before and can be easy to present the next day along with a smile and a certain song.
Any suggestions???

  1. I would go with something seasonal. A peach cobbler or perhaps a strawberry shortcake. You can make the cake the day before and layer the fruit and cream before serving (and singing!).

This is a good one that everyone I have made them for loves them.

  3. @Camala- She loves strawberries, peaches, most summer fruits. Also a big fan of almond, and coconut. She is pretty easy to please:) I am just out of fresh new ideas.

  4. I would make lemon loaf with some vanilla glaze. Lemon bread is always yummy and keeps really well. Good luck.

  5. Your dogs are WAY too tense :-) Just like mine... Yeah, right. I'd go with gingerbread with lemon sauce. The gingerbread is better the next day and the lemon sauce is great heated up... kateiscooking

  7. Glad to see, mine aren't the only dogs that own the couch! I now it's not quite fall yet, but I have a pumpkin pie cake that could probably adapted with some gingersnaps!

  8. The dogs are SO cute! I'd make a fresh fruit trifle. A good basic cake, classic vanilla pudding (maybe with a touch of rum), whipped cream and any fruit that's in season; blueberries, raspberries, blackberries. It's gorgeous and gets even better if left in the fridge for a day before serving.

  9. I'd say carrot cake. Hearty, tasty, and lavish looking. Good luck in what ever you decide to bake and present.
